The New Museum
235 Bowery
New York City (a block below Houston)
https://www.newmuseum.org/visit

Admissions: Pay what you wish for admission from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday. Timed tickets required, supposedly. Also, free admission for something called ”DOE employees:” Does that mean employees of the New York State Department of Education, or the Federal Department of Education? And if the former, who’s included: school guards? Board administrators? High-school teachers? Faculty at CUNY? Faculty at SUNY?

And what about the promise of free admission for Food Stamp recipients (SNAP/EBT)? Considering the Museum is next door to the Bowery Mission I can only hope that this is more than a statement on web, but it’s hard to tell. My suspicion is, the “timed tickets” piece is all for show. What about the rest? The staff seems amiable enough—or is that merely patronizing? As usual, let us know.
